Feedback operations metrics

Does product feedback move from intake to acknowledgment, synthesis, decision, and closure without losing trust or learning?

A connected metric suite for feedback aging, acknowledgment, closure, duplication, and roadmap influence.

Purpose

Use this suite to answer: Does product feedback move from intake to acknowledgment, synthesis, decision, and closure without losing trust or learning? The measures form one operating view. A fast acknowledgment with poor closure creates false responsiveness; a high roadmap-conversion rate can indicate customer focus or indiscriminate feature voting; a rising duplicate rate can reflect weak taxonomy, a discoverability problem, or a genuinely important recurring need.

Application

Use it when feedback arrives through several channels and must be combined into a common workflow. Define what counts as actionable feedback, a validated theme, acknowledgment, closure, a duplicate, and roadmap influence before measuring performance.

What it is

The suite follows the feedback lifecycle:

Aging
identifies unresolved work and bottleneck states.
Acknowledgment within service level
tests initial responsiveness.
Closure rate
tests whether assessed items receive a documented outcome and submitter update.
Duplicate rate
shows repeated submissions and the quality of taxonomy or discovery.
Feedback-to-roadmap conversion
shows whether validated themes influence a recorded roadmap decision.

No single measure represents customer centricity. The suite describes the operating system that turns raw submissions into traceable learning and decisions.

Definition and components

Feedback aging

Use this as the calculation definition: Median Current timestamp minus State-entry timestamp. Unit: Elapsed time in hours or days. Interpretation: Shows how long unresolved feedback has remained in its current workflow state; include a tail measure and aging bands.

Feedback acknowledgment within service level

Use this as the calculation definition: Items acknowledged on time divided by Actionable items. Unit: Percentage. Interpretation: Shows the share of actionable submissions receiving a meaningful acknowledgment within the target window.

Feedback closure rate

Use this as the calculation definition: Items with documented outcome and submitter update divided by Assessed items. Unit: Percentage. Interpretation: Shows whether assessed feedback reaches a traceable outcome and closes the communication loop.

Duplicate feedback rate

Use this as the calculation definition: Submissions marked duplicate divided by Reviewed submissions. Unit: Percentage. Interpretation: Shows the share of new submissions linked to an existing problem, request, or theme.

Feedback-to-roadmap conversion

Use this as the calculation definition: Validated themes linked to a roadmap decision divided by Validated themes. Unit: Percentage. Interpretation: Shows whether synthesized customer evidence is considered in a recorded roadmap choice, including decisions not to act.
