Interview process health metrics
Does a structured interview process collect sufficient job-relevant evidence and reach timely, documented decisions?
Contents
A guarded metric suite for interview signal coverage, evidence quality, and debrief decision latency.
Purpose
Use this suite to answer: Does a structured interview process collect sufficient job-relevant evidence and reach timely, documented decisions? Coverage without evidence quality produces boxes checked but little basis for judgment. High-quality evidence with long decision latency can lose candidates and weaken recall. Speed without either can produce inconsistent or unfair decisions.
Application
Use the suite only with a job-related interview architecture, defined competencies, standardized evidence expectations, trained assessors, and an authorized selection process. Segment operational patterns carefully and require employment, privacy, and fairness review before publication or consequential use.
What it is
- Interview signal coverage
- tests whether each required competency receives enough independent evidence.
- Interview evidence quality
- tests whether ratings include specific, job-relevant behavioral evidence that meets the agreed standard.
- Debrief decision latency
- measures elapsed time from the final assessment to a recorded decision.
These are process-health measures. They do not determine who should be hired and must never become an automated selection score.
Definition and components
Interview signal coverage
Use this as the calculation definition: Competencies meeting the evidence threshold divided by Required competencies. Unit: Percentage. Interpretation: Shows whether the loop collected the planned independent evidence across the job-related competency set.
Interview evidence quality
Use this as the calculation definition: Ratings meeting the evidence standard divided by Submitted ratings. Unit: Percentage. Interpretation: Shows the share of ratings supported by specific, job-relevant observations rather than unsupported impressions.
Debrief decision latency
Use this as the calculation definition: Median Recorded-decision timestamp minus Final-interview timestamp. Unit: Elapsed time in hours or working days. Interpretation: Shows the typical time from the last planned assessment to a documented hiring decision.
